once i had gone home friday night, i asked a few people which design they prefered for my business card, out of 6 people, 5 prefered the black card with angled text, they all said it looks very profesional.

along with this, i was also given two suggestions for redesigning.

The first being 1 of my origonal cog design, but to change the colours to a black backgrouind, white text and grey/metal cogs.

The other, which was suggested by my sister... was to change the angled text design, use the mint coloured background and add brown text, her thinking behind this, is to make it look like mint chocolate... that isn't a joke...

well here are the two new design's, and i actually quite like the new cog design.

i think using black is the way to go!

and more :D

and more...

Another business card design is this, along with a few colour's. i haven't done the back yet, but i intend to just have the emblem on that, in the centre.
earlier today, after speaking to the lecturer, another idea for the map, is to have it on a flat surface, like a table and to have this in the middle of the exhibition
i've started to look at a emblem for myself, the first thing that came to mind is using my initial D and B

i like this idea, because people use these initals to make a smiley face, i think this can be a positive thing, so i've flipped them and have tried a few fonts, i quite like the font on the left which is "Agency FB" but this is only becasue it looks like the face is wearing glasses.

These are the other colour's that i tried.

This i a very basic design, but i like it. very simple, but i have experimented with the background colour.

This design was mainly to see wot the card would look like with a curved edge, although i don't like the shadows on all the righting. this shows both the front and back of the business card.

Personal Branding

part of this subject is to produce some personal branding (business cards)

my skills at photoshop are limited at best, so this could be interesting :D

at first, i did a few scetches and then tried to produce them on photoshop, i made a few designs.

here they are:

we also went down to see the boards we had to use for the exhibition, then using this, i will make several boards for the modal to see what they will look lioke in the area, this will give a good idea on how many we can realistically use for the exhibtion with the amount of space we've got.

In the modal, i made the boards white, but these where hard to see so i coloured them red for visual purposes. as the boards are equal to 2 AO peices of paper next to eachother, and there are only 10 students in our class, only 5 boards will be needed.

Another idea taken from the origonal concept is to have a underground sign hanging from one of the collums in the area, although a modified version will be used with the exhibitions name on it, rather than "underground".

Another thing that needs to be decided is how the "map" will be desplayed. The map is the normal London underground map, but it will be altered, so that instead of having line names such as "central" or "picadilli" it will be Daryl and Paul, The lines will be altered so that they all run off the bottom of the map, these lines will then be carried on by coloured tape along the floor and will leed to the corisponding person's work.

Another idea, which is also simpler, is to have only one line coming off the map, and lead around the whole exhibition, it will then have individual peoples work as tran stations. this will be a slightly cheap option as i won't need to buy 10 difference colour tapes, instead i can just buy 1, although people have suggested that we might need to have random other train lines leading to random places or just ending to make it more visually appealing. Rather than just a single line, looping around the floor.

something that need to be discussed on friday during class is how the map will be displayed. i have had a few ideas but they vary in price, and the idea chosen by most people is will be the most exspensive to produce, i will need to see if people are willing to pay the extra money.

The 3 ideas for the map display are:

A box display
on a board (same as the boards that wil display our work)
on the wall

The box idea is the most exspensive idea, we will need to buy several sheets of MDF and buy this box, it wil not be a simply flat box, it will be slopped so it will be easier to see. The map will be printed directly onto the top sheet of MDF and the rest will need to be painted the same colour, perhaps printed at the same time as the map, so that it is the same colour. the problem is, i have looked at several websites and found the cheapest MDF is £7.92 for a sheet of 1220 x 1220 x 15mm the box will need 5 of these sheets, ths cost along with the printing, im looking at £60-80... this works out at only £6-8 per person but i will need to ask every one to see what they think.

The board idea, is to simply have the map printed in a AO size and displayed in the centre of another board, however the problem with this, is that we will be unable to have a coloured line running down to the floor, as there is a large open area below the board, one idea was to have a strip of wood/metal cut to the same thickness as the tape, this will then be stuck to teh base of the board, however i believe this will look tacky.

The third idea is to stick a AO map onto the wall, it will be located on one side of the door, probably the right side as there seems to be the lasrgest open area here, however i beleive this is too simple and boreing, another issue is that there are already posters on this part of the wall and i am unsure whther we will be allowed to take these down.

This week me and adam measured the exhibition area and re-made the modal, but this time, to scale.
