Chosen Concept

in week 4 we had to present our different concepts to the rest of the class, we will then vote, and the winning concept will be used for the exhibition.

The winning concept was a "London underground theme" This conecpt consists of having a modified london underground train map, and rather then having different line name, such as central line etc... the names will be changed to a person of the group, such as Austin or Paul. The lines will then extend off the map and along the floor, and join with the board of work for that person, for example, paul could be a blue line, this will then leave the map, zig-zag across the floor, much like the lines on the map does, and then lead to pauls work. This will guild viewers around the exhibition.

The general feel of the exhibition also need to be similar to that of being at the underground.

before we chose a final concept for the module, we had to create a consept for each group, our group chose shadow's and here is a few pictures of our idea for the exhibition layout.

last week we produced a modal of the exhibition area in 3DS max, this will be used by the exhibition team to practise with layout, and to see how the lighting will effect the area.

This picture is of the exhibition area (not scaled to correct size) at the moment is does not have any objects in it, also the plug sockets and fire alarms have been put in place.

The Exhibition

For this subject, the class is to make 3 things to show our work, these things include a exerbition, displaying our work, graphics, such as flyers and posters, and the third thing is a web gallery, showing the same things as the exerbition but on the web.

As the class consists of only 10 people, it was split into 3 groups, and each group had to create a concept for what they wanted it all to be based on, our group consists of me, AJ, Gemma and austin, we come up with a few items, the 1st being:

having a nature them, the idea was to show how natural things can inspire modern day design, we was planning to have things like, roots along the floor and walls, tree stumps for tables etc... howevery i believe this would be alot of work and it may become "messy".

Our other idea is inspired by the shadow exhibition at the V&A gallery, we decided we will try and use shadows and light to desplay our work, possible ideas include having projectors desplaying all the text around our work, so theres no actually text on the board itself. either that or having normal text on the board and having the persons name projected across it.
